Residents are set to see stunning photographs of the unseen natural world in contemporary styles in a new exhibition.

Barry Kirk, 65, the former editor of the Romford Recorder’s sister paper Barking and Dagenham Post, will be showing the photography at the Havering Museum in High Street, Romford, every Wednesday and Saturday from Saturday December 10 to January 4.

Barry said: “The photographs offer a new way of looking at artistic pieces.

“Each one has something different and they make you think.”

The 30-piece exhibition ventures into new territory where photography and art combine with a series of high quality images of the unseen natural world in contemporary styles from fine art to abstract surrealism.

Barry, who was also previously the deputy editor of the Romford Recorder, said: “My favourite piece is the multi coloured mushroom.

“I found it in my garden, the size of a two pence piece, so I decided to photoshop the colours in giving it quality which is different.”

This is Barry’s second exhibition at the museum after returning to his freelance roots over a year ago.

Since then he has been making a name with a series of photographic exhibitions based on his 50 years as a professional photo-journalist.

Starting as an apprentice photographer in a London west end studio in the early 1960s, he has spent the last five decades photographing pop groups in Liverpool to interviewing Prime Ministers.
