A person became trapped in their vehicle this morning after a car and a van collided in Ingatestone.

Firefighters used specialist cutting equipment to free them after the incident in Stock Lane.

The East of England Ambulance Service was called to the scene at 7.15am, sending a rapid response vehicle, a paramedic and two ambulances.

A spokesman said: “There was black ice on the road which made conditions very dangerous.

“Three people were treated at the scene with no obvious injuries. On further assessment, crews conveyed two casualties to hospital as a precaution.”

One was taken to Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford, and the other to Basildon Hospital.
