Paralympic swimming finalist Amy Marren surfaced earlier this month to visit her old swimming school in Hornchurch.

Rising star Amy, 14, was a finalist in the women’s S9 category 400m freestyle and 100m backstroke at this year’s Games. She finished fourth and fifth respectively.

And the Hall Mead pupil made a splash on Sunday, October 7, when she popped in to visit the Havering and Hornchurch School of Swimming at the Campion School, Wingletye Lane.

“It was a wonderful, inspirational experience for the children,” said swimming coordinator Lynda Walton.

“Amy posed for photos with the children and signed autographs for them, as well as demonstrating her swimming talent in the pool.”

She added: “The kids really enjoyed it.”

During her visit, Amy also found time to say hello to her former teacher and coach Louise Walton.
