Back by popular demand, a star of classic comedy show Only Fools and Horses will be returning to the borough, revealing secrets from the set and anecdotes from his career.

John Challis, better known to many simply as Boycie, is making a comeback to the Brookside Theatre, Eastern Road, Romford, as part of his show’s tour Only Fools and Boycie.

He said: “You have a delightful theatre in Romford that’s run by an exceptional team.

“It’s a place I had not visited before but we were asked to go and were not disappointed.

“The crowd was wonderful and I’m hoping to see many of the faces who saw me there the first time.

“When we find places that are well run, that have a strong sense of community and that provide a warm welcome, we make a mental note and are happy to return.”

Having worked with some of the biggest names in show business, he will be spilling the beans about Only Fools and Horses co-stars like Sir David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst and other performers such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Oliver Reed and George Best.

He will also recall tales from his time in Dr Who, Coronation Street and other TV classics.

John said: “Inevitably, I’ll also be linked with the character Boycie. And I don’t mind that. It’s as though I’m followed around by an alter-ego every day of my life. He’s always there. There are always people asking for autographs or selfies, asking questions or calling out ‘Oi, Boycie, where’s Marlene?’

“It meant so much to so many people and played an important part in their lives. It brought a lot of happiness to a lot of people and I’m proud of it.”

John will also be meeting fans after the show to sign autographs and pose for pictures.

“Romford was a great town to visit and we sold out The Brookside Theatre last time.

“People can meet me after the show for an autograph and hear a few stories that will bring a smile to their face.”

Tickets are £17.50 for Only Fools and Boycie at Brookside Theatre on October 19 from 8pm.
