A temporary one way traffic system has been put in place along parts of Hornchurch High Street due to safety repairs taking place on a damaged building.

After the flat above Thomson’s travel agents looked on the brink of collapse last Wednesday (June 30), the road was completely closed with businesses and residents being evacuated.

All businesses and shops in the one way zone are now open.

Havering Council says that it is working with the building owner so that the road can bef fully re-opened as quickly as possible.

There are temporary changes in the area to let traffic flow - The High Street is closed eastbound between Billet Lane and North Street and northbound from Station Lane to Billet Lane. Diversions are being routed via Appleton Way

Traffic travelling southbound on Billet Lane can turn left or right into High Street.

Traffic can move between Station Lane and High Street (the section towards Upminster) in both directions following the gyratory around the former White Hart Pub site.

Buses are being diverted within the local area and further updates will follow.
