A Hornchurch woman is a step closer to a career in the Royal Navy.
Elizabeth Green is celebrating after completing her Royal Navy initial training in HMS Rayleigh in Cornwall.
She said: “Overall it feels absolutely fantastic to have made it this far. I am really proud of myself. It’s been a challenge, but if it were easy it wouldn’t be such an achievement.”
The ten week course givs the recruits an introduction into the basics of naval discipline and customs.
They are also put through their paces with a tough fitness programme.
Elizabeth,26 joined the Royal Navy in October last year after spending some time working as an administrator.
She said: “I joined the Royal Navy for a stable career and I’m looking forward to seeing the world. I’m also excited about the variety my role will offer.
“Training in the simulator known as Havoc, was a highlight of the course. We were in the engine room of makeshift ship which was sinking and had to block the holes to stop the water flooding in. I also enjoyed the outdoor exercises, particularly on Dartmoor. Despite it being a long hard trek I embraced the challenge and pushed as hard as I could.”
Elizabeth is now heading to HMS Collingwood in Hampshire where she will learn how to gather and analyse vital intelligence information.
