After eight years and nearly 1,200 episodes, Britain's James Corden has bid farewell to The Late Late Show.

The last episode of The Late Late Show with James Corden aired in the early hours of this morning - UK time.

It had it all, from A-list guests Harry Styles and Will Ferrell visiting the studio to a skit with other US talk show hosts including Jimmy Fallon, Stephen Corbett, David Letterman and Jimmy Kimmel.

Tom Cruise even made an appearance starring in a Lion King Musical number of Hakuna Matata with Corden.

Earlier in the week British singer Adele appeared with Corden in the last-ever Carpool Karaoke.

The pair sang a number of Adele's hit songs including Rolling in the Deep and I Drink Wine which she said had been inspired by Corden.

Where to watch The Late Late Show with James Corden

While the final episode of The Late Late Show with James Corden has already aired in the US, fans in the UK will have to wait a bit longer.

Who is taking over The Late Late Show?

Rather than replace Corden, a different programme will take over The Late Late Show time slot.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Late Late Show will be replaced with a reboot of panel show @midnight with Stephen Colbert reportedly on board as an executive producer.

Why is James Corden leaving The Late Late Show?

James Corden announced in April 2022 that he would be leaving The Late Late Show.

Corden explained in an interview on Jimmy Fallon late last year he would be moving back to the UK for family reasons.

Speaking to Fallon, he said: "I will miss it (the show) hugely. I will miss it everyday.

"There's no sense in me leaving because I don't love the show.

"I'm just leaving primarily because we're a long way from home, and we really want our children to know what it's like to grow up in London.

"To have a solid relationship with their grandparents and that is time that you don't get back.

"So, however hard it is to go, I'm completely certain that it's the right thing to do it."
