Urchins boss keen for whole team to start contributing to goal tally.

Hornchurch boss Jimmy McFarlane will be hoping his side find their shooting boots as they prepare for a tough Ryman Premier Division test at Hendon tomorrow (Saturday).

They will come up against promotion-chasing Hendon at Earlsmead, where they groundshare with tenants Harrow Borough.

And the north London club have certainly made it a fortress, losing just one league game at home all season – a 3-0 reverse against Enfield Town on August 30.

“They are good team and they have been a bogey side for us over recent times,” said McFarlane.

“But we have just got to keep putting in the performances like we have for the past two weeks.

“If we do that we know we will give them a decent game.”

Urchins have failed to find the net in their last two fixtures and McFarlane knows that has to improve if his side are to continue their climb away from the relegation places.

“Scoring goals has been our problem all season,” added McFarlane.

“If you look at the goals conceded record we are in the top five or six, so we know the problem lies with not scoring the goals.”

Striker Martin Tuohy tweaked his hamstring in the goalless home draw with Bognor Regis Town last weekend and looks likely to miss out for Urchins tomorrow.

And while McFarlane still has the likes of George Purcell to look to, he admits they cannot become over reliant on just one player.

“Martin’s picked up a knock so he might be out at the weekend,” added McFarlane.

“We have George, but it can’t all be down to him. Kieran Bishop and Nnamdi Nwachuku have got to chip in with a few.

“It’s not just the strikers as players from other areas haven’t scored too often either.”
