The Urchins make the long trip to Norfolk today (Saturday) looking for an 11th straight win in all competitions and hoping to extend their lead at the top of the table.

But the manager does not expect an easy time of it and said: “It will be a tough game. I was impressed with Norwich last year.

“We beat them home and away, but they were really tough games and there is no doubt in my mind they’ll turn the corner and get out of trouble, so I’m not expecting it to be easy.

“I don’t want the boys to take it for granted, thinking they’ve got to just turn up. We will have to work just hard as we have in every game, so we’ll be going in with the same attitude.”

The boss believes they have to give Norwich the same respect they would give any side.

“We’ll be giving the whole Norwich side respect and not taking them for granted and certainly won’t be taking anything lightly,” he added.

“Last year they had a really good number nine. He was a real good target man and I think he’s still there.”

The Urchins cruised to a 5-1 victory against Aveley in the Velocity Trophy in midweek with the likes of Martin Tuohy, Matthias Fanimo, Sean Roberts, Mohamed Kamara and Taj Hussain all coming into the line-up and McFarlane now has an even bigger selection headache.

“If you have a good squad, which we have, then you get selection headaches and I certainly have one,” he said.

“I have the problem of choosing the 11 out of a very strong 15 depending on the injuries to Elliot (Styles) and Alex Bentley.”

One player who could come into the side is Tuohy after netting in midweek with George Purcell to serve a three-match suspension after his red card in their FA Cup win at Hertford Town on Saturday, which has earned the club a trip to Hereford on September 30.

“Every player in that game performed, but Martin was the pick of them and my man of the match,” added McFarlane.

“For someone who hasn’t played a lot of football this year, he worked so hard, won all his headers and did everything required to be a number nine.”
