Mark your bike in Romford Market

Cyclists will have the opportunity to mark their bikes to deter potential thieves this weekend.
Havering’s regular bike-making event will take place today between 11am and 2pm in Romford Market.
Insp Neal Donohoe, from Havering’s central neighbourhood policing ream, said: “Registering your bike helps police identify and verify the legitimate owner of bikes that have been stolen or are being resold.
“Security marking your bike deters potential thieves as your bike can be easily traced if it is stolen.”
Mark It in the Market will allow people to get their bikes uniquely registered so they can be more easily traced and returned.
Cllr Osman Dervish, Havering Council’s cabinet member for regulatory services and community safety said: “Anyone who got a new bike for Christmas and anyone who already has a bike that isn’t marked should definitely go to a session to get it marked.
“While crime is low in the borough, we must always be on guard and getting a bike marked will help prevent a cycle being taken.”
