The 51-year-old man who died on the tracks by Brentwood railway station has been named as one time Coopers’ Company and Coborn student, Neil Roeper.

British Transport Police (BTP) were called to the station at 7.42am on Monday (February 10) after the husband and father-of-two was found on the line nearby.

A spokesman at the Upminster school confirmed that Mr Roeper studied there until 1981 before going on to the University of Manchester.

He was a risk manager at Daiwa Capital Markets Europe Ltd until November 2012.

Executive director of Daiwa Europe, Paul Lyon, said: “The reported news is obviously deeply saddening and our thoughts are with his family.”

The inquest into his death is due to open in Chelmsford coroners tomorrow.

BTP treated the tracks as a crime scene but confirmed they do not believe the death was suspicious.

A BTP spokesman said: “The incident was reported to BTP at 7.42am and was also attended by Essex Police officers.

“Medics from the East of England Ambulance Service also attended but the man, believed to be aged 51 and from the local area, was pronounced dead at the scene.”
