Man in hospital after assault on train at Hornchurch station

A man has been taken to hospital after he was assaulted on a train last night.

British Transport Police (BTP) officers and Met police were called to Hornchurch station just before 7pm on Tuesday, July 3, following a report of an assault on board a train.

It appeared that a man sustained injuries after he was kicked and punched multiple times.

His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The victim was airlifted to hospital where he is receiving treatment.

In connection with the incident, a 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and grievous bodily harm.

He is in custody as enquiries continue.
