A man who had a heart attack at Romford train station has died in hospital.

British Transport Police (BTP) confirmed the news to the Recorder this afternoon.

Police and ambulance services were called to the station at around 8am this morning (Tuesday, May 1).

A spokeswoman from the British Transport Police control room said that the man was taken to a London hospital in an ambulance after suffering a cardiac arrest on the platform, and the same man has now died in hospital.

A spokeswoman from the London Ambulance service told the Recorder: “We were called at 5.57 this morning to South Street, Romford, to reports of a person taken ill.

“We sent an incident response officer, an advanced paramedic, a single responder in a car and an ambulance crew.

“We treated a man at the scene and took him as a priority to hospital.”
