A person has died after being struck by a train in Gidea Park on Saturday, causing delays and cancellations for bank holiday travellers.
A man, believed to be 62-years-old and from Romford, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: “We were called to Gidea Park station on Saturday August 23 to reports a man had been struck by a train.
“Officers attended the incident, which was reported at 8.08pm and is currently not being treated as suspicious.
“Medics from London Ambulance Service also attended, but the man, believed to be 62 and from Romford, was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Officers are making efforts to contact the man’s family.”
Train operator Greater Anglia stopped services through the station after the man was struck by the train. The lines were reopened by 9.40pm.
