A 34-year-old man has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a woman by touching her.

Angur Miah, of no fixed abode, was charged yesterday after an incident that occurred after he boarded a train in Shenfield in July.

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Southend Magistrates’ Court today.

Officers from the British Transport Police recently launched an appeal to track a suspect down following an assault on a train between Prittlewell and Southend Victoria station.

Det Con Paul Cudby said: “I would like to thank the media for publicising this appeal and all members of the public who came forward with information in relation to this incident.”
