A woman was treated for shock and a man for smoke inhalation following a bungalow fire in Gidea Park

Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a fire at a bungalow in Fairholme Avenue, Gidea Park at 3.40am on June 14.

Part of the loft and roof of the semi-detached bungalow were damaged by the fire.

A man and woman left the property before the Brigade arrived.

Paramedics took them both to an east London hospital after treating them for smoke inhalation and shock respectively at the scene.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control by 5.07am.

Crews from Hornchurch, Harold Hill, Romford and Dagenham fire stations attended and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
