A 24-year-old man was taken to hospital on Saturday morning after a road crash in Rainham.

Emergency services were called to New Road, near its junction with Upminster Road South, at about 4.30am, where they found the man suffering a head injury and back pain. He was taken to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel.

The crash involved a car and a pedestrian.
