THE M25 was closed clockwise between junctions 27 and 29 this morning this morning due to a lorry which jackknifed just before Junction 29 at the A127 (Romford).

When the HGV overturned at 5.50am, it damaged the central reservation and a lampost.

After police were called to the scene, the closure was extended back to Junction 27 just before 7.30am, with the entry slip road closed at J28.

The road was cleared, and re-opened at 9.20am.

Traffic was heavy on the M11 this morning, which was being used as a diversion. Zjan Shirinian, a reporter at The Recorder’s sister paper the Ilford Recorder, was travelling southbound on the road.

He said: “It was pretty chaotic. I was on the M11 and there were lots of signs saying there were delays on the M25, but it was just standstill traffic when I got close to where the problems were.

“People were getting quite impatient. It took about 50 minutes to get through the worst of it.”
