Students heard inspirational words from an anti-racism campaigner.

Former footballer, Luther Blissett visited Redden Court School in Cotswold Road, Harold Wood as part of the school’s Rainbow Nation project.

Meg Ryan, the director of Rainbow Nation said: “Luther’s visit was a great success.

“Our students listened intently and had lots of questions.”

Luther spoke to the students about how he came up against racism during his early years in football and the work that he does now in trying to educate people.

His visit was part of the Rainbow Nation Project, a campaign which seeks to eradicate racism and prejudice in the classroom and beyond.

Luther said: “There have been many positive changes but a lot remains to be done if racism and discrimination are to be defeated.

“The only way forward is through education that is why it is so admirable that the young people here at Redden Court are prepared to stand up for what is right. I wish the Rainbow Nation project every success as it develops and progresses to other schools.”
