A group of young boxers were given a special talk by Havering’s London Assembly member Keith Prince to celebrate the end of their 12 week boxing programme.

He also handed out awards to the children in acknowledgement of the hard work and dedication they have shown throughout the past three months at The Art of Boxing, in George Street, Romford.

“It’s great to see the renowned Art of Boxing gym inspiring so many talented Romford youngsters,” said Keith Prince AM.

“The progress these children have made in 12 weeks is astounding, and they should be very proud of their hard work. Boxing not only keeps kids active, it also teaches discipline and helps build confidence.

“The Art of Boxing have asked for no compensation for these classes, and they should be applauded. Every Romford business should take a note from the Art of Boxing, and look to how they can give back to the local community in such an impactful way.”

Professional boxer Robin Dupre, who runs the gym, said: “It was really nice of him to come down, he spoke really well and got involved with the sparring.

“We start our next programme next week, we’re all booked up for that, but we’re taking placements for the one after which is already half full.

“We’d also like to thank everyone who generously contributed to our JustGiving fundraiser.”
