Schools across Havering are set to be hit by a teacher strike on Wednesday, as union members protest against an “unsustainable” workload and government changes to pay and pensions.
The national walk-out, organised by the National Union of Teachers (NUT), is set to affect all schools in the borough in some way, though not all will be closed, depending on how many union members join the picket lines.
It comes on the back of strikes last year, most recently in October, and Havering NUT secretary, Ray Waxler, has blamed education secretary Michael Gove for the action, labelling him “out of touch.”
