A severe weather alert has been issued by the Met Office warning of severe cold weather and icy conditions in the south east.
A yellow warning of ice is in place across large parts of the region, with the Met Office website putting Havering on amber alert level three.
The alert level means there is a 90 per cent chance of severe icy conditions until Thursday midday – which could increase health risks to vulnerable patients and disrupt delivery services.
The Met Office urged drivers and pedestrians to take care on slippery surfaces, with overnight frost forecast and potential for snow.
