In the run-up to the local elections, the Recorder wants to keep you informed about your voting options.

This week we asked residents of Havering Park and Harold Hill.

Next week the Recorder will focus on the Harold Wood, Cranham, Upminster and Rainham.

If you have questions you would like the parties to answer, email them to sam.blewett@archant.co.uk and state where you live.

The readers’ questions to candidates running in Harold Hill:

1) After the Central Park fire, what will the parties do to combat anti-social behaviour?

2) What other actions will the parties do to help the regeneration of Harold Hill?

Responses:

Residents’ Association:

1) Increase surveillance of the park. Work with police and Parks Security to step up presence. CCTV in this area.

2) Arrange regular meetings with residents to identify and address main concerns. Focus on areas that need to be improved.

Ukip:

1) Tackling anti-social behaviour requires a multi-agency approach to deter, find and punish those who persistently blight the lives of others.

2) Future spending plans need to be done with full consultation of those who live there.

Labour:

1) Increase warden patrols and consider introduction of park keepers, review CCTV, work with SNT to improve security, improve gates and fences

2) Use more of capital receipts from Hill land sales to improve infrastructure. Consult business and residents on a retail development plan.

Conservative:

1) Make it clear that these anti-social acts have personal repercussions for perpetrators.

2) Continue the successful Harold Wood Ambitions Project and involve more and more of the residents both young and old.

The readers’ questions to candidates running in Havering-atte-Bower:

1) The village seems to be neglected of policing as it is a more remote part of the borough. What would your party do to keep our neighbourhood safe?

2) We have very limited public transport services here. Can anything be done to ensure we can get about?

Responses:

Ukip:

1) Despite the promise of increased police numbers the local SNT team has been reduced. We would look to improve response times

2) Ukip’s Cllr Binion has been working with the hospice, TfL and a farmer to install a bus turn around in the village to reduce waiting time.

Labour:

1) Work with SNT and Neighbourhood Watch to address concerns and ensure the council consider whether resources can be directed to eliminate hotspots.

2) Consult residents to gauge needs not being met and work with GLA, Mayor and TfL to present case for additional services.

Conservative:

1) Continue to work with the local SNT and introduce regular police meetings in the village to take up residents concerns.

2.) Working with Boris Johnson, the 375 and 575 bus routes are secure and we are working to increase frequency of buses and have the 103 service the village as well.
