A car crashed into a parked vehicle outside a church in Hornchurch this evening (Friday, August 31) after its driver suddenly fell unwell at the wheel.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman confirmed officers were called to the stretch of Upminster Road outside St Andrew’s Church at 6.05pm to reports of a car crash.

When they arrived they discovered the driver of one vehicle had taken unwell at the wheel and crashed into a parked car.

The driver appeared to be recovering at the scene, but was taken to hospital for a more thorough examination. It is not believed his condition is life threatening.

Police officers were still in Upminster Road and Hornchurch High Street at around 8pm directing traffic around the damaged vehicles.
