That is 39,000 20ps over five years!

Havering Council has collected more than £7,000 in the last five years from public toilets in the borough.

There are six public toilets in Havering that the council charges members of the public 20p to use, these are in Station Parade, Elm Park, Hilldene Avenue in Harold Hill, Upminster Bridge, Appleton Way in Hornchurch, Cherry Tree Lane in Rainham and Avenue Road in Collier Row.

In total between April 2012 and April 2018 the council collected £7,847.80.

That was more than 39,000 20ps!

The information comes following an FOI (Freedom of Information) request from the Recorder.

The FOI revealed that from 2012-13 the council collected £1856.40, and in 2013-14 that figure rose to 2092.20.

In 2014-15 it collected £1400.90, in 2015-16, £911.70 in 16-17 £860.30 and last year it collected its lowest total in the last few years and it was £726.30.

Havering Council has been contacted for comment.
