The reinstatement of Mark Logan, the councillor who believes he was sacked due to his chronic poor health, will be one point discussed in tonight’s council meeting.
Mr Logan, 54, represented Rainham and Wennington as a member of the Independent Resident’s Group (IRG) until December 28 when he was removed for not attending a meeting of the council for six months.
Cllr Jeff Tucker, leader of the IRG, vehemently disagrees with this and is seeking for the mayor to seek legal advice to get him reappointed.
The merger of back-room services between the borough and Newham will be another hot topic with Cllr David Durant of the IRG set probe council leader Cllr Michael White over its cost efficiency.
Cllr Paul McGeary, Labour member, is set to query the housing chief, Cllr Lesley Kelly, about homelessness figures which he believes are underestimated.
The Labour group will also try and pass a motion calling for the council to recognise the “adverse impact” of the government’s controversial “bedroom tax”.
In response the Tories will use the motion to vote to recognise the “positive effects” of the same policy.
The meeting at Havering Town Hall, Main Road, Romford, is open to the public and kicks off at 7pm.
