THE FAMILY of a young man killed in a road traffic smash are calling for greater safety measures on the junction where he died.

An inquest was held into the death of Nicky Gooding at Walthamstow Coroner's Court on Tuesday, July 29.

The 20-year-old suffered multiple injuries after he drove his motor bike into a car on the mini roundabout at the junction of Whitchurch Road and Dagenham Park Drive, Romford, on November 13 last year.

The family said: "They should put more traffic lights onto the roundabout and more signs telling people to slow down."

Evidence was heard from PC Alex Hewitt, who said that at the time of the accident Nicky would have been driving at around 34 to 42mph.

He said: "He had been riding the bike for four months and an experienced driver might have been able to stop it, but had he been doing 30mph this collision would not have happened."

The verdict was given as accidental death.
