A planning application has been submitted to demolish an 80-year-old art-deco bingo hall in two months time.

Protesters are opposing the demolition of Mecca Bingo, High Street, Hornchurch, after Lidl applied to knock it down earlier this month.

Hayley Johnson, 37, of Hornchurch, who set up a Facebook page dedicated to saving the bingo hall, has made a request to Historic England asking for the building to be listed.

Her application is under consideration.
