Manager Jim McFarlane has released Tobi Coker, who made sixteen appearances this season, scoring one goal, but who had been on the bench for the last few matches.

Also leaving is Bradley Warner, who was ever-present in the first team, with five goals from his twenty appearances this season.

Warner made a total of 70 appearances for Hornchurch since joining from Bowers & Pitsea at the start of last season, scoring 21 goals.

He has returned to his previous club, Bowers, in what can only be described as a very surprising move.

With a depleted squad, still lacking Nathan Cooper and Nathan Livings, and also missing Leon Smith and Lewwis Spence, we thought we had done enough to take all three points against Worthing on Saturday.

It looked promising when George Saunders almost found the net in the first minute, his shot coming back off the post, and it was Saunders who again went close in the closing minutes of the match, again hitting the post.

In between times, George Purcell had a hard shot come back off the inside of the post, though Purcell opened the scoring with a fine shot after running on to a Leon McKenzie pass.

It looked a though we would take the points, as Worthing had not been able to offer much of a threat, but, with ten minutes left to play, McKenzie, helping out in defence, conceded a penalty, which was converted to salvage a somewhat fortuitous point for the visitors.

Our midweek match was against Chipstead, in the League Cup, but the rain started the previous evening, and it was still raining steadily ten hours later, and a postponement was inevitable.

It’s said that a 3G pitch would eliminate postponements, but whilst this may be true, how many people would turn out on a night when sleet and rain fell continuously? Not many.

We are back in the road this Saturday, with a visit to in-form Haringey Borough, and another 3G surface, though this is one of the better artificial pitches.

We are then at home to Potters Bar on Tuesday next, as our quest of three points continues.
