Throughout my time as an MP I have consistently fought for our local NHS, but over the years government cuts have resulted in the dramatic loss of services in Havering

The Mardyke surgery was closed and never replaced, services at Rainham and South Hornchurch have been reduced, and now the Mungo Park GP has closed leaving over 3000 residents having to travel further afield for appointments.

I will be meeting with the head of the Clinical Commissioning Group and NHS England in the coming weeks to discuss the unexpected closure. I have major concerns about the impact this will have on those with mobility issues, disabled patients and those who have limited access to transport. This will also have an impact on people travelling to medical appointments, those who at one time, would be walking to the end of their street to see a GP.

Rainham has seen a decline in health provision for many years now, and with the largest ageing population in London, we should be prioritising those needing regular health care.

I will be making clear to NHS England and the CCG that the system is failing residents in the south of the borough and urgent measures need to be taken to restore services.

The reduction of services has left Queen's Hospital under increasing pressure and enough is enough.

I'm calling on NHS England and the government to reinstate healthcare services and deliver a new medical centre for

south Havering or the reinstatement of services at South Hornchurch Health Centre.

Residents should be able to access local NHS services - not be provided with a list of options that are miles away from their doorstep.
