Jail for man, 53, who drove at four times legal drink-drive limit in Hornchurch

A man who drove at more than four times the legal limit and caused two accidents was handed a 12-week prison sentence and a three-year ban.

John Doyle, of Cricklade Avenue, Harold Hill, drove a silver Renault Clio in Danbury Road, Hornchurch, in the afternoon of June 18. He was breathalysed and found to have 146microgrammes of alcohol per 100ml of breath. The legal drink-drive limit is 35microgrammes per 100ml.

Doyle, 53, pleaded guilty and was sentenced at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on July 29.
