Carers have been invited to attend an information day to discover more about the practical support available to them.
A Carers Rights Day will be held on Friday November 21 at Queen’s Theatre, Hornchurch.
From 10am to 2.30pm carers can meet the team from Havering Association for People with Disabilities who will be accompanied by groups from Havering’s carer’s team, welfare rights, direct payments and the disabled adaptor team.
Carers will be able to meet the teams and discuss how recent government legislation, the Care Act, will affect them.
Other organisations represented will include Alzheimer’s Alliance, Havering Asian Social Welfare Association and the Citizens Advice Bureau.
At 10.30am there will be an interactive performance by The Arc Theatre Group to raise awareness of how financial scammers can easily take advantage of carers, disabled and vulnerable people in society.
