The number of people with diabetes in Havering has increased.
Statistics from GPs show that 4.4 per cent of registered patients in the borough had the condition in 2011, compared to 3.4 per cent in 2004.
A spokesman for NHS North East London and the City said: “This is partly down to improved diagnosis by GPs, who are now better at identifying people living with diabetes, but also because there has in all probability been an increase in the numbers of people with diabetes due to population ageing and higher rates of obesity in the borough.”
