Commuters faced delays this morning after a passenger was taken ill at Romford.

Greater Anglia services towards London Liverpool Street suffered delays and cancellations as medical staff attended to the passenger.

Metro trains were diverted onto the fast line to bypass the train, causing knock-on delays of up to 15 minutes for the fast trains.

Greater Anglia reported via their Twitter account that the emergency cord was pulled between stations, stopping the 08:10 service from Shenfield between Romford and Chadwell Heath.

Tickets are being accepted on London Underground and bus services 25 and 86.

The delays are expected to contine until around 10am.
