A woman from Ilford has written a book on her belief that she was spiritually healed through prayer.

Ruth Pearson, who lives in Newbury Park, was diagnosed with lupus in 1996.

The rare automimmune disorder causes a person’s immune system to attack their healthy cells and tissue.

In 2014, she suffered two “flare ups” of the condition, and was hospitalised both times.

On the weekend she was discharged, Ruth decided to attend a spiritual retreat.

She said: “When I got there, I found that my mobility scooter wasn’t working and I needed help to get everywhere.

“On Saturday night, we were in prayer when Prophetess Joyce Famoriyo brought me to my feet.

“She touched my head and my hips.

“I can’t explain it but I felt the presence of God strongly in the room.

“I knelt on the floor and cried, releasing years of emotional pain.

“Joyce got me running and dancing across the room, it was incredible.

“The next day, I could still walk, and I slowly began to regain my mobility.

“After I returned home, I was described as a walking miracle by my physiotherapist!”

Ruth, who is a Seventh-day Adventist, has now published “Listening for God’s Voice: 40 Days of Developing Intimacy with God.”

She said: “I regard that night as a turning point.

“As I reconnected with God, I learnt that we are all going through difficulties.

“I still have lupus but I haven’t suffered any major flare ups since that night.”

Now, Ruth has set up a coaching business.

She said: “I want to motivate other people.”
