More than 100 horses were blessed during a special service in Havering-atte-Bower.
The annual Horseman’s Sunday event took place in the village green on Sunday October 14.
Michael Heap, one of the organisers said: “It was a beautiful day.
“There were lots of riders dressed in all their finest and it was all we could ask for.”
The service was led by Reverend Dave Marshall from St John’s Church, attendees also included Romford MP Andrew Rosindell.
The first Horseman’s Sunday in Havering-atte-Bower was celebrated in 1954.
The Havering-atte-Bower Village Conservation Society (Habcos) restarted the event four years ago after a short break.
Michael said: “Havering village probably has more horses residing than people and it is a great place for horseriding.
“Havering village green was at its finest, the village sign now seems to have always been there and the church, church hall, St Francis Hospice and all the cottages around make for a wonderful setting. “
Habcos is appealing for people’s old photographs from the celebrations over the 1900s.
