A young Hornchurch volunteer has been appointed to the board of a national charity.

Twenty-one-year-old Shreya Ukil, a student at Goldsmiths College at the University of London, volunteers with the Oxfam Media Voices programme, and has volunteered with the Museum of London in the past.

In recognition of her community work, Shreya has been asked to lead the development of vInspired, which helps young people build confidence and skills through volunteering, over the next year.

Shreya said: “I am looking forward to being involved in the political side of the company as well as gaining experience in media, blog writing and learning how corporate fundraising works. I was really thrilled to hear vInspired will be reaching out to school aged children, as getting opportunities available to younger kids is really important to me and I would love to be involved with that.”
