League wins lift rivals
Hornchurch and Romford kept their fine form going with league wins at the weekend.
Urchins moved to the brink of the play-off places in the Ryman Premier Division with their 2-0 home success over rivals Concord.
And Boro climbed back up to third in the Ryman One North table with a 1-0 triumph at Waltham Abbey.
Five players were booked in a goalless first half at Bridge Avenue, before Frank Curley headed Hornchurch in front in the 50th minute.
Curley was cautioned soon after, with Lewis Smith also having his name taken before scrambling home a second goal for Jimmy McFarlane’s men.
Referee Fissenden flashed the yellow card three more times – making it 10 bookings in all – and also showed Tambeson Eyong a red following his second caution of the day.
Alex Read and Richard Oxby both hit the woodwork for Boro before the only goal arrived in the 75th minute.
Toran Senghore’s strong run set up strike partner Read, who hit a good shot on the turn inside the right post.
Sixth-placed Hornchurch travel to Folkestone tomorrow, while Boro are back in action as they travel to East Thurrock.
