Police are investigating after a car clamp was hacksawed open in Hornchurch last week.

The vehicle, a grey Renault Laguna, had been clamped because its owner hadn’t paid court fines relating to driving offences.

But at 6.30am on Monday, January 7, the clamp was sawn off and its remains dumped on the side of South End Road.

The car was then driven away – but it is not known whether the clamp was broken by the car’s owner or another party.

Anyone with information should contact Romford CID on 101, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0845 555 111.
