A mum-of-three who cites love as her biggest source of inspiration has launched a jewellery design brand named after her children.
Genlin Shen, 42, of Broadstone Road, Hornchurch, opened her first jewellery store – Alina & Jamila London in The Broadway, Hornchurch in February.
Originally from Taiwan, she started designing jewellery aged just six.
“I am both a dreamer and a doer, and I never forgot about my dream of becoming a professional jewellery designer,” she said.
After studying for a degree in marketing, Genlin worked to save money to turn her dream into a reality.
Her aim is to provide stunning and unique pieces without high prices and without sacrificing time with her precious family.
“I try to manage my responsibilities between day time and night time,” she continued.
“I work very hard while my children are in school, then I will focus on just being a mother when they are at home, talking to them, giving them love, as well as supporting them to overcome any challenges they may be facing.”
Having realised her long-held ambition, Genlin encourages other mothers hoping to start their own business to go for it.
“Decide on your life priorities,” she added.
“Execute them step by step and don’t worry about how much time you will need to achieve your goals.
“Just do what you can do, and keep doing your best. Then never give up in any situation.”
