An MP showed her support for a children’s charity by opening its newly refurbished playground on Universal Children’s day.
Dame Angela Watkinson, MP for Hornchurch and Upminster opened the playground at Haven’s House Children’s Hospice, in Woodford Green after it was given a £20,000 makeover.
The make over came courtesy of generous grants from DHL UK Foundation and the Property Professionals Breakfast Club.
Dame Angela said “I was delighted to visit Haven House on Universal Children’s Day and open its new refurbished playground.
“The hospice does fantastic work in supporting life-limited children and their families in some of the most difficult circumstances imaginable.”
An all-weather surface was installed in the play area so it can be used for longer periods in late spring and early autumn and it also features a new wheelchair swing.
Universal Children’s Day was established by the United Nations in 1954, the event held each year on 20 November is designed to promote international togetherness and awareness among children worldwide.
The MP toured the hospice which serves families from Havering and throughout north east London, with the charity’s chief executive, Mike Palfreman.
