The mother of a nightclub doorman murdered while at work has called for an end to her family’s 17-year torment.

Christopher Lombard, 30, was shot dead on December 1, 1996, while working at The Island nightclub in High Road, Ilford – though no one has ever been charged with his murder.

However, a fresh appeal to find his killers will be launched on BBC’s Crimewatch programme tonight, featuring camera footage of two suspects police have also released images of.

Christopher’s mother Thelma Lombard, 83, from Hornchurch, said it has been a “nerve wracking experience.”

“It has all been quite traumatic. I asked the police to re-open the case. The idea is to jog someone’s memory,” she said,

“You never know what could come out of it.”

Det Insp Robert Pack, who will appear on the programme, said the family “deserve to know who killed him.”
