A group of Hornchurch hairdressers are running more than 100 miles between them to raise money for children’s charities.

Hairdressers from The Vanilla Room, in High Street, are going to be running a marathon each on Saturday, March 29 to raise money for Children with Cancer UK and The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Salon owner Kerry Larcher and stylists Scott Dale, Stacey Hunt and Abbey Nicholls will be running a marathon each on a treadmill in between hair appointments.

Scott (whose young son was recently diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes), Stacey and Abbey are also running the London Marathon on Sunday, April 13 for the charities.

Kerry said: “Children’s charities are so very close to our hearts. We have such long standing relationships with our staff and clients and go through the good and very bad times with them.

“This fundraising drive will, we hope, support some of the local families we know and children we love. I hope the challenge will motivate as many people as possible to donate to this very worthy cause.”

The hairdressers are looking to raise £5,000 in total, for information or to donate visit www.facebook.com/thevanillaroom.
