Danny Kingston, 41, from Frimley Avenue, Hornchurch, is in the running to be named Best Food Blog 2017 for his site Food Urchin.

He said:

“I’m pretty chuffed.I only found out the other day that I was nominated.

“There’s quite a few of my peers within the group. It’s nice to be included amongst them.”

Danny set up his site nine years ago and credits the site for providing him with opportunities to further his career.

“I’ve had a lot come out of it along the way,” he said.

Customers at the Upminster TapRoom, Sunnyside Gardens, Upminster, have been lucky enough to try some of Danny’s delicious onepot meals.

Pub co-owner Caroline Sheldon, 61, said: “We are really proud of him. It’s [the one-pot meals] a sell-out when we have it.”

The awards, launched in 2014, celebrate the country’s finest home-grown ingredients and the people who produce and cook with them.

Winners will be unveiled in the Great British Food Magazine’s October issue, out September 8.
