It may not be Night of the Living Dead or Resident Evil, but one Havering film-maker is hoping to make his mark on the world of zombie movies.
Laurie Calvert, from Hornchurch, wants to make a zombie horror film called Undead or Alive with make-up artist Amelia Harris and her boyfriend James Vaughan, who will be the zombie.
The story follows a man filming a horror movie in a forest. He takes his girlfriend with him, but unbeknownst to her has also brought his pet zombie to scare her and make it more realistic, but things fail to go to plan.
Undead or Alive will be filmed in Essex, with the climax being shot at Edleigh Castle. Laurie needs two amateur actors, one male and one female, to take part. Both need to be in their 20s.
Web designer Laurie said: “This will be a bit of fun, but we’re also hoping the film will turn out good enough that we’ll submit it for a few competitions. It’s a great opportunity to do something a bit different.
“We just need two amateur actors to complete the team for this project.”
Laurie, 49, was inspired to start making films in 1978 after seeing Star Wars. Since then he has made more than 300 shorts films and two feature films in genres including horror and animation.
His YouTube channel has been visited by more than 1.5 million viewers. His most popular film, which has had more than 250,000 hits, is a computer generated short about penguins.
Laurie has already made a short film called Amelia’s Boyfriend, which stars James in his full zombie make-up.
