A new exercise club is encouraging families to exercise together to improve the nations health.

The Family Fitness Club was established to provide a fun and enjoyable environment where parents and children can exercise together, said founder Sam Bartlett.

He said: “I work as a PE teacher and realised that often parents take their children to matches and then stand on the side.

“There wasn’t anything where parents and children could exercise together.”

To encourage families to exercise together, Sam, 28, from Hornchurch, posts videos giving examples of different exercises to try out at home.

Parents of smaller children can even use their children as weights, said Sam.

He said: “I wanted a family orientated, healthy and active lifestyle where communities can socialise whilst they exercise.

“When kids see their parents exercise, they want to get involved.

“It also takes away the excuse of not having time - you’re playing with your kids, but also getting fit.

“Parents can use their children as weights, lifting them up and down, which kids love.

“It’s about getting everyone involved and healthier.” The club operates through its Facebook and Instagram page, where Sam posts advice and tips.
