Styles: We’ll never give up
Hornchurch booked a place in the Essex Senior Cup final this week, but captain Elliot Styles says every game until the end of the season will feel like a final.
Urchins visit Conference South rivals Farnborough tomorrow (Saturday) on the back of a 3-2 win at Waltham Abbey and Styles hopes they can continue that habit.
He said: “Every game is a cup final. We have to treat every game as our last and take every opportunity to get out of the relegation zone.
“We may literally have a final, but we have got to go into every game with the same mentality. There is a good positive atmosphere in the dressing room and everyone is working for the team and keen to keep us in this league.
“We are going in off the back of a win, albeit in a cup, but any win gives you confidence.”
Urchins are without a win in the league since December 29, but have drawn five of the last seven.
Styles added: “You go into every game looking for the three points but it hasn’t happened of late and that’s frustrating.
“But when you can’t pick up the win the next best thing is a point. We have shown a lot of spirit and we are fighting for every point. We’ll never give up.”
