A football fundraiser raised awareness of issues facing the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community (LGBT) and funds for a campaign group.
Steve Avery, 26, of Hornchurch, and his boyfriend Jamie Bartle, 19, organised the fundraiser, which included a five-a-side football tournament, penalty shoot-outs and talks in aid of LGBT campaigners Stonewall.
More than 50 football fans turned up for the event at football centre, Goals Dagenham, on Saturday.
During the tournament
an LGBT liasion officer delivered a presentation on hate crime and a youth worker from LGBT community support Flipside led a discussion.
Westhamanians Blue U14 was awarded a trophy for winning the tournament while about £250 was raised for Stonewall.
Steve said: “The whole day went really well and surprisingly ran a lot
smoother than expected since it is mine and Jamie’s first time organising an event like this.
“I hope everyone enjoyed the day.”
