Twenty felines will be hoping to follow in the pawprints of a special tabby when they go on show at a Hornchurch “re-homing” event.

The Mayor of Havering Cllr Lynden Thorpe recently gave the Hornchurch and District branch of Cats Protection her support when she adopted a tabby called Josh - and the charity will be showing off 20 more hopefuls in need of new owners at their “re-homing” event tomorrow (Saturday 14th).

“We have more than 100 cats on our waiting list to come into care,” said Alison Gambles of Cats Protection. “It is horrendous out there – cats and kittens are being abandoned, thrown out and handed into care as they are no longer wanted.

“We urgently need indoor foster carers to help us cope with the vast amount of cases that need to come into our care.

”Doing our homing show means we can bring in more cats and kittens.”

The event will take place from 11am to 1pm at Hopwa House, Inskip Drive, Hornchurch.
