Do you want to help shape the council’s policy on gambling in the borough?

Well you can with a new consultation Brentwood Council will be running between August 1, and October 24.

The Gambling Licensing Policy from 2013 to 2016 will shape how activities are locally licensed. Major changes will include a difference in the number of gambling machines allowed in certain premises and their pay-out. The council also reaffirmed that a casino would not be allowed in the borough as part of the policy.

Cllr Roger McCheyne, chair of the planning development control and licensing committee, said: “I’m pleased that we are starting this consultation so that we can get views from all on what we should permit when we make decisions about the local licensing of gambling.

“I look forward to seeing the views of residents, businesses, voluntary organisations and more on this matter.”

A copy of the draft policy is available to view on the council’s website. You can also have your say by contacting the licensing team at the Town Hall by e-mailing licensing@brentwood.gov.uk
